The Wellington Royal Canadian Legion Branch 160 has been a
major contributor to the community of Wellington and
surrounding areas within the County of Prince Edward since
1929.
The legion is not just a place to visit and have a drink we are a
business vital to the community. The role of our Legion is to
support veterans, and RCMP members and their families when
called upon for assistance.
ln addition we are here to support organizations in our community
such as the local Hospital , Hospice, minor Sport Teams , Fire Fighters,
CML Snider School programs and Seniors.
Our building and resources are available for use for Celebrations of Life, Seniors Cards, community darts, entertainment events and meetings. We have kitchen
facilities and can provide meals for all occasions.
In order to remain a strong and vibrant supporting organization in this community we rely, not solely on membership dues, but by the community's involvement and attendance of our events. We thank all those that do attend and look forward to the upcoming events over the next months.
Many of you have asked for a copy of this beautiful Remembrance Day song created by a local artist Mike Johnson. Mike lost five great uncles (five brothers) in WWII. This was played at Branch 160's most recent Veterans Dinner and Wellington's Remembrance Day ceremony - so here it is with Mike's generous approval to share - enjoy!!
You don't have to be a veteran to join!
Membership enables the Royal Canadian Legion to reach out to veterans , supports seniors, provides youth sports programs, raises funds, volunteers to help those in need, or simply offering a place to gather for fun and celebration.
Legionnaires provide essential services in their communities

Feb 3 2025 - C.M.L Snider School Principal Kathryn Acorn, along with students Danas Miller and Mylee Graham were on hand to accept a cheque for Food For Learning from Branch 160's Rep Kevin Horton
Food for Learning ensures that all students have daily access to healthy nutritious food while at school. When students eat better, they can learn better.
Food for Learning provides food to over 10,000 local children each school year, in the form of a balanced breakfast, healthy snack or nutritious lunch.
All publicly funded schools within Hastings and Prince Edward counties offer Food for Learning student nutrition programs daily.
Thank you to all that braved the cold this morning to be part of the Vimy Oak installation at Wellington Park.
A special thank you to Robin for being on hand to play Last Post - difficult in this cold, but well done! Also present was Neil Ellis - Mayor of Belleville - who was originally present to plant the Vimy Oak tree in 2017 when he was MP.
The plaque was created by Ken How. The date of January 28th was selected as it was this day in January 1918 Lt-Col John McRae, who wrote the famous poem in Flanders Fields, died in hospital in France.
WWI Canadian soldier Lieutenant Leslie Miller , as a keepsake from his term of service, removed acorns from a fallen oak tree at Vimy Ridge, France. He sent these home to be planted, on his farm, in Scarborough. The trees which eventually flourished were named The Vimy Oaks. Today, 10 trees survive on that original woodlot property, as a testament to Miller’s ingenuity and foresight to help future generations remember this legacy.
A total of 3,598 casualties were sustained by the 10,602 Canadian troops involved. The Canadian National Vimy Memorial on Vimy Ridge France marks the site of this Canadian achievement and stands as a tribute to all who served their country in battle and risked or gave their lives in the First World War.
In 2017, to mark the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge, the saplings produced from The Vimy Oaks are being be used to replenish the Vimy Foundation Centennial Park, in France, and also serve as commemorative trees all across Canada such as our own Wellington Park.
Branch 160 had a good turnout for their 2024-2025 New Years Levee
